ARTICLE STUDENTS' SAMPLE

Dear Editor,

Having read your recent article about immigrants occupying local jobs, I would like to express my total disagreement with the opinion stated, which I would define as racist and, moreover, inmoral.

The idea of encouraging local businessmen to fire all immigrants and employ local people as the most suitable option to reduce unemploment is simply a fallacy. Are you sure we, locals, are willing to become underpaid cleaners, housework assistants, elderly carers or seasonal farmers? Do you really think this is the solution to the economical crisis? If only it were as simple as that.

I was born in Tudela and, as many others, I am unemployed. Graciela is from Ecuator. She has been working for me during the last five years and the thing I shall not do is fire her and hire a local worker. In my view, Graciela is not an immigrant stealing welfare, she is just a very good worker and a good citizen. Are immigrants to blame for the current situation? Are not they just even weaker victims? Skin, religion or names should not be the scales of our society.

And just to conclude, please do not do cheap politics. That is not what we,  critical readership, require from you. In my opinion, you should reconsider your obtectivity and write a new article pondering the immigrants point of view and how they also suffer this crisis.

I hope you consider publishing my opinions with regard to this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Mary C.
